Supervalu Kells, established since 1987, was bought by local Mullaghman Larry O Brien in 2003 and redeveloped into the fine shopping centre in 2007. Larry has been an avid and consistent support to the community of Kells from this time, supporting local community organisations and clubs. Supervalu has been one of the main supporters of Kells Tidy Towns and the summer arts and heritage festivals. His contributions have been so important to the town. “Supporting the locality is very important to us, we employ up to 90 local people and support local producers from Kells and the hinterlands directly” says Larry. He firmly believes that Irish businesses need to support each other and the communities. He believes the National Supervalu Food Academy Programme, supports local and national producers within Ireland and the Supervalu brand can help successfully showcase and promote small providers products. When asked what he would like people to know about Supervalu Kells, that customers can shop on line and still avail of home deliveries. The Committee of Kells Awakening would like to thank Larry and his team for their contribution to the community.
